Attach one RAM at a time and boot the PC up. Open the task manager and check your memory usage. Just open the performance tab and check the memory capacity and usage if it aligns with the RAM you just connected to your PC. Do this for each of your RAM sticks by turning off the computer and reconnecting the other RAM stick after booting. Answer 1 of 5: I can understand your situation, I have read other coment as well. Still I would like to add my answer. You have to change whole cpu to get two slots. But, know your requirements, What is your requirement 4GB or 8GB? Does your one RAM slot supports 4GB? Boot computer, and it#x27;s now running much faster. However, it shows in System Information that there is only 4GB of RAM recognized, and Bank 1 slot shows as empty. -I switch the RAM sticks between Bank 1 and Bank 0, computer boots just fine but still shows Bank 1 slot empty. -Put old RAM sticks in. Bank 1 slot shows as empty. In most cases that means ram installed incorrectly or the wrong ram or ram settings. Try something simple first. Re-seat both sticks of ram and then Reboot a couple of times and then take another look at the ram in Resource Monitor. It#x27;s possible that one stick of ram in a match set could be bad but not likely.

Apr 26, 2017. #1. After installing two new sticks of 8gb each, I checked CPU-z and it was only showing that one stick was in. I checked bios and it said the same thing. 3 of the 4 RAM slots were empty except for one. I made sure it was in all the way and that they were in the right slots, even moved them to different slots. OEM RAM is good Add new Crucial RAM selected via web selector to Slot1, unit does not boot. Remove Crucial RAM from Slot1, remove OEM RAM from Slot0. Add Crucial RAM to Slot0, unit boots. Thus proving the new RAM is good Remove all RAM. Place OEM RAM in Slot1, unit does not boot. If all the above is true, yes, you have a faulty motherboard.

10 Posts 31 Try again with both sticks. Use slots A2 and B2. Counting the slots from the CPU those are the 2nd and the 4th. Ensure they properly fit. If they doesn#x27;t work, try swapping them so the stick from A2 goes to B2 and vice versa. 04-24-2017 12:19 AM #3 TimTomTwo ROG Member Join Date Mar 2017 Reputation 10 Posts 16.

On a desktop, installing RAM is simple: fold back both the clips on the RAM slot, then insert the stick firmly straight down. The pressure from your insertion should force both clips to snap back into a locked position with an audible quot;click, quot; but sometimes it does require you to snap them back down on the DIMM manually. Check if both of the ram work in one slot. So try to boot with your RAM in slot 2, if that works swap it out for the other stick. If that also works the issue is elsewhere. It could be either bad slots on the mobo or your CPU not being installed properly. In the CPU is the memory controller which basicly detects your RAM. I#x27;ll get to that in a bit.

My list of reasons ram might not appear 1, Some computers require that you go into bios and SAVEEXIT in order to acknowledge that the new ram is there. 2, I posted a photo at the end of this, that shows how the ram must be put in certain order, do not follow this diagram, it is just there to show an example. Make sure if you have more than two slots the RAM is installed in slots of matching color - on a quad channel this is usually 1 amp; 3 or 2 amp; 4. If there is only one memory card and it is in the top slot, remove the top memory card before installing RAM in the bottom slot. Always install RAM in the slots from the bottom to the top. Check each RAM stick individually in all slots. If all slots and RAM sticks are working, put all RAM sticks in slots, and run F12 diagnostics just for Memory. It took around 1.5 - 2 hrs for me. System will restart automatically after successful test. Now the total RAM should be visible in BIOS. On Windows 10, open the quot;Startquot; menu, find quot;Task Managerquot; and click quot;Best Matchquot;. In Task Manager, click the Performance tab, and then click Memory to view the specifics of RAM. You should see the total available RAM at the highest point of the screen. Other itemized details are also displayed here, such as RAM speed, amount of available RAM. Your PC is limited to a maximum of 4 GB of RAM. You only get this problem with both RAM sticks place, not with just one. and both RAM sticks work fine by themselves whichever DIMM slot they are in. This would rule out the RAM sticks individually and the individual slots eelectricallly it would seem.
